Stress education

Stress education

To optimise employee wellbeing at scale, we can work with you to provide stress awareness education. This can form part of a larger project or be a standalone intervention in one or more of the forms listed below.

Expert coaching

Targeted support to reduce stress, strengthen performance and improve health.

Chronic stress and high‑stress moments both influence how people think, behave and perform. When someone is operating under sustained pressure or dealing with an intense life event, their decision‑making, communication and capacity to deliver are affected — often far more than they realise. This is where timely, science‑led coaching makes a meaningful difference.

We work directly with individual employees to help them stabilise, regain capacity and build healthier patterns that support long‑term performance. Whether the issue is rooted in persistent stress cycles or a sudden spike in pressure, our coaching strengthens resilience, reduces internal load and helps people operate more sustainably.

There are two ways we support employees, depending on their needs:

High-stress coaching

Targeted support when an employee is under significant strain due to a life event or sudden pressure.

What the employee may be experiencing

Sleep disruption, racing thoughts, reduced focus, emotional reactivity, decision paralysis and inconsistent output are common when the nervous system is overloaded. High stress situations, like life events, are associated with poorer job performance, negative mood and health issues. At a workforce level, stress is a major driver of lost working days (17.1 million days in 2022/23 for work‑related stress, depression or anxiety).

How this impacts the business

Overload shows up as errors, slower decision‑making, strained communication (including with customers/clients) and presenteeism - the costliest component of poor mental health at work according to Deloitte (contributing to a £51bn annual cost in the UK; average ROI c.£4.70 per £1 invested in support). Although stress is not a mental health issue, it significantly contributes to poor mental health when left unaddressed. Under acute strain, the quality of decisions and problem‑solving typically degrades and productivity decreases, compounding downstream costs for teams and projects.

How we help

We provide time‑sensitive coaching to stabilise the employee’s stress response, reduce reactivity and restore day‑to‑day capacity. We then get them back on track, so that they're able to effectively balance the pressures they’re facing inside and outside of work, without being driven by the stress patterns that were undermining their health and performance.

Examples of situations we support

Divorce or separation • Post‑divorce adjustment • Redundancy • Bereavement • Return to work • Career peaking • Sudden role or organisational changes • Redundancy • Imposter syndrome • Major or chronic illness • Fertility issues • Menopause • Carer support • Empty nest syndrome • Relocation • Navigating parenthood

How we assess
  • Uncouple® Stress Audit (rapid diagnostic): maps current load, triggers, risk flags and spillover into work so we can prioritise the first levers that will reduce pressure.

  • Energy Leadership™ Index (ELI) (optional): provides a before/after view of how the employee responds to stressors and where defaults show up under strain, giving a shared reference for change.

Performance coaching

Proactive development for high‑potential and senior employees whose roles demand steady, sharp minds under pressure.

Who this works well for
  • Employees being prepared for leadership and new leaders

  • Senior leaders carrying complex demands and high cognitive load

  • Strong performers who become inconsistent under pressure or in conflict

  • Individuals who influence others’ morale and delivery (team leads, project heads)

How unmanaged stress at this level impacts the business

When leaders are stressed, it doesn’t stay contained - it filters down. This can harm psychological safety and readiness to change when leaders are exhausted, and increase distress in direct reports via poorer supervisory behaviours. At an organisational level, sustained stress is linked with higher absence and employee turnover, lower morale, presenteeism and reduced productivity - issues repeatedly flagged in UK employer surveys and national statistics.

What we focus on

We help leaders and rising talent operate without relying on stress as the engine for performance. The work typically includes:

  • Strengthening self‑management under pressure and improving decision quality when stakes are high (reducing stress‑driven cognitive slips)

  • Stabilising energy, sleep and daily rhythms to sustain output

  • Upgrading communication and influence when demands are intense

  • Breaking patterns that erode relationships, team morale and delivery

How we assess
  • Uncouple® Stress Audit: surfaces hidden stress patterns, load drivers and role‑specific risks that undermine performance.

  • ELI or ELI 360 (optional): reveals stress‑response defaults under normal and pressured conditions, plus multi‑rater insights for leadership behaviours with 360.

  • TalentPredix™ (optional): identifies an employee’s top strengths, values and career drivers so we can align their natural abilities with role demands, support stronger decision‑making under pressure and improve long‑term performance fit.
